Falcon Road Festival 2017 Press Release

SATURDAY 1ST JULY 2017

The Falcon Road Festival is back for its second year, with this year’s theme, Promoting Health and Wellbeing

Key sponsors and partners in this year’s Festival are once again BigLocal SW11, the London Fire Brigade, Enable Leisure and Wandsworth Council.

Festival organisers are pleased this year that Wandsworth Radio have come on board and are putting together an exciting line up of performers for the main stage in Shillington Park, from where they will broadcast all day.

Sacred Heart and Christchurch Primary Schools, the George Shearing Centre, and Providence House are all hosting a variety of activities as part of the Festival.

The street festival will run from 12 – 6pm from Falcon Road, adjacent to Providence House, and all along Este Road, as far as Shillington Park, where sporting activities are located, and where the main stage will host live performances from 12 -9pm.

In keeping with last year, the falcon will return with? the bird of prey display, as will the Tea Dance in Christchurch School; and in addition Deen City Farm will bring their mobile farm, and there will be a skateboard workshop sponsored by St George’s development group

The design of the festival is based on 6 zones:

Falcon Road Zone: Providence House-Platform One-Red Cross & Heritage displays (Library & Battersea Society)

Community Safety Street: along Este Road from the Fire Station, including LFB open day, stalls from local uniformed groups and organisations relating to safety.

Community Zone: along the second part of Este Road, with market stalls especially promoting health and wellbeing, but also general community interest. Food Zone: towards the end of Este Road with dedicated food providers

Activity Zone will be located in Sacred Heart School sports areas, organised by Enable and facilitated by Sacred Heart School, and spilling into Shillington Street Park. Activities to include football, boxing, karate, daily mile, inflatable etc.

Performance Zone: in Shillington Park, with stage run by Wandsworth Radio, plus falconry displays, St Peter’s deck chair area, and Scariofunk tee shirt printing.

It promises to be another great community day.
