Chair’s report : Falcon Road Festival 2017

Falcon Road Festival Takes Flight!

With over 3,000 people attending, 42 stall holders, 70 volunteers, 20 stage performers and more than 30 activities the second Falcon Road Festival was a brilliant day and fantastic experience!

“It was a real joy to see so many people from all parts of our community coming together. I was particularly impressed with the number of volunteers, most of whom live in the area, that gave up so much time to support the Festival.

I’d like to thank in particular the London Fire Service, the Army and Police Cadets and the many community volunteers that worked so tirelessly and with such good humour to engage with and support everybody.

Big Local funding would have meant very little without this generous support! You could tell from faces of the hundreds of people that attended what a great day it was.

A big thank you to the Festival organisers, Wandsworth Radio for managing the stage, Lorinda Freint from LB Wandsworth, Nick Atkins from Enable, Nic Myatt from the Fire Station and Tessa Strickland, Marlene Price and especially Robert Musgrove from Big Local SW11 for their dedicated planning; and a special mention for Micky Gwilliam of Falcon Estate residents association for all his hard work!

It was not long after the last bird of prey ended its display in Shillington Gardens that we began to turn our attention to next year!”
